TPS Alliance Responds to Biden Admin. Fear of Migration Influx Following an End to Title 42
(Washington DC) In response to a recent article from Axios, stating that Biden administration officials are currently preparing for a “Mass Migration Event” if COVID era Title 42 policies end, Mardoel Hernandez of the National TPS Alliance released the following statement:
“As the US government prepares to welcome more Ukrainian refugees at the border, and rightfully so, it is also demonstrating the other side of the Biden administration’s stance on immigration.
Creating a ‘war room’ in preparation for an influx in migration after ending a racist Trump era policy should not be the first response in addressing migrants and refugees held at the border. Biden Officials are once again, acting under the same fear used to justify the refusal to distribute much needed vaccines for jailed migrants, the harsh mistreatment of Haitian asylum seekers, and the failure to provide protections for millions of migrants already in the United States.
These policies are unacceptable for an administration which continues to express a commitment to protect migrant communities. Instead of acting in fear, Biden can instead address immigration by taking swift action to provide protections for migrants and refugees.”-Mardoel Hernandez, TPS Holder, National Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
