“Crista Ramos, Lead Plaintiff in TPS Lawsuit to Speaker Pelosi: “You have our back, we will have yours”
San Francisco, CA- Yesterday a group of 20 TPS holders from numerous cities around the U.S embarked on a nationwide bus tour “Road to Justice” to advocate for their families. Today, TPS holders from the Bay Area TPS community welcomed the “Road to Justice” riders in San Francisco, CA for a press conference where the lead plaintiff in Ramos V. Nielsen, Crista Ramos made the following message for Speaker Pelosi:
“Exactly one week ago, to have a press conference over the decision from the court [Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals]. The ninth circuit court has allowed the Trump administration to separate our families, There are over 250,000 US citizen children like me and my brother. This was not the result we were hoping for but we are here today to show that our fight continues!
We are here today, in support of this 8 week long national tour to uplift the voices of TPS families and demand a permanent residency.
We are also here to call on Speaker Pelosi to stand with TPS holders and their families, to fight for them in congress and to take stance against white supremacy and racial justice which is threatening to tear our families a part.
We also ask her to fight against Trump and to help make sure that the next Supreme Court Justice is chosen after the election and by the next administration and we ask that it is a woman of color who will be able to represent us.
I am the lead plaintiff in this lawsuit and we know that this case can end up in the Supreme Court. We are aware of the circumstances if this administration gets to choose the next judge.
I want a Supreme Court that listens to my voice and the voice of my family, so Speaker Pelosi, I urge you to fight for me. I know that you have our back and if you continue to fight for us, we will have yours.”
