TPS Alliance Statement on Democrats’ Inclusion of Parole Status in House Reconciliation bill

Massachusetts- In response to House Democrats’ inclusion of a 5-year parole status which would benefit millions of immigrants who have been in the United States since before January 1, 2011, Julio Perez made the following remarks on behalf of the National TPS Alliance:
“Failure is simply not an option! While we will not stop organizing until we achieve lawful permanent status and equal rights for our families, we will not allow our struggle to be used as a barrier to block progress for millions of other immigrants and refugees. If a so-called parole status is all that can get to President Biden’s desk, then Democrats need to stop playing games with our lives and get it done. Everyone has a different idea about what is ideal and what is possible, but we can and will unify if and when the Democrats get clear about what they can and cannot deliver. What we can no longer tolerate are divisions imposed on us from above. Enough. And one thing is for sure: if undocumented immigrants are left out at the final moment, we will indeed unify in condemnation of Democrats’ betrayal.”-Julio Perez, TPS Holder of the Massachusetts TPS Committee, Executive Committee member of the National TPS Alliance
