BREAKING: DHS Announces 18 Month TPS Re-Designation for Haiti
(Washington DC) The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced today that it will extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Haitians for another 18 months, after current designations were set to expire in February. It will also Re-designate TPS to Haiti, allowing new Haitian arrivals residing in the United States as of November 6, 2022, to apply for TPS through August 3, 2024.
In response to news of the latest TPS Re-designation, Concepcion Morales made the following remarks:
“This is great news for Haitian migrants who continue to escape from the ongoing political crisis back home. We will always welcome the Biden administration’s efforts to utilize the TPS program in order to protect migrants and refugees who are in need of immediate relief. They have the legal, political, and moral authority to make this happen. These efforts must not end here. The Biden administration must also expand the same protections to Central Americans.”-Concepcion Morales, TPS Holder, Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
