TPS Alliance Responds to Bipartisan US Senate Meeting on Immigration
(Massachusetts) As a bipartisan group of senators meets today to discuss available options for passing immigration legislation this year, Julio Perez of the National TPS Alliance made the following remarks:
“We will participate in any conversation in good faith to pursue permanent residency and equal rights for our families. It remains to be seen whether there is a single member of the US Senate willing to do the same. In the meantime, we will direct our attention toward President Biden where the racist hypocrisy underlying US immigration policy continues to reveal itself through his poor exercise of discretion implementing laws already in existence. When it comes to TPS for Central Americans, and when it comes to basic human rights for refugees, we will continue to ask President Biden: ‘y nosotros, que?’, What About Us?” – Julio Perez, TPS Holder, spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
