BREAKING: White House Designates TPS for Sudan & South Sudan
(Washington DC) The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially designated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Sudan and re-designated TPS for South Sudan. In response to the recent TPS designations, Mardoel Hernandez of the National TPS Alliance released the following statement:
“This was a long awaited but much needed announcement for both Sudanese and South Sudanese communities. However, we are confused by the actions of this administration. Why are much needed TPS Designations and re-designations taking so long? We will always welcome any new effort from the White House to use executive authority in order to protect millions of millions who cannot return to their native countries due to the pandemic, to natural disasters, and political turmoil. But we need more swift and immediate action!” – Mardoel Hernandez, TPS Holder, National Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
