TPS Alliance Response to Latest Parliamentarian Decision
(Houston) In response to the latest Senate parliamentarian decision ruling against including immigration parole provisions in the budget reconciliation package, Delmy Gomez of the National TPS Alliance released the following statement:
“We have said from the beginning that we believe the public parliamentarian process was set up as part of an orchestrated plan for Democratic leaders to have an excuse for their imminent failure. We were not surprised by the news today. And indeed nothing has changed. Democrats have control of congress and the White House, and they can pass legislation in the Senate with 50 votes. They can and must deliver permanent protections for immigrants. We expect them to do just that.“
