TPS Alliance reacts to Democrats’ Introduction of US Citizenship Act of 2021
Nationwide- Today, US Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey and US Representative Linda Sanchez of California introduced legislation to both the House and Senate, which would create an 8 year pathway to citizenship for more than 11 million undocumented immigrants and an immediate path for beneficiaries of DACA and TPS.
In response to the official introduction of this legislation, the National TPS Alliance made the following remarks:
“We welcome the official introduction of this legislation, which we have been waiting for since the Biden administration announced its plan to introduce sweeping immigration reform. Congress must now utilize any and all legislative vehicles which would guarantee a permanent residency to TPS holders as soon as possible but there is still more immediate action which must be taken by the Biden administration. We continue to wait for the full restoration of the TPS program and for the expansion of the program to provide immediate relief for those who are without a status and cannot return to their native countries due to natural or political disaster.”-Claudia Lainez, TPS Holder and Regional Organizer for the National TPS Alliance
