TPS Families Conclude 8 Week Long “Road to Justice” Bus Tour at Black Lives Matter Plaza, Washington D.C
Washington D.C– On Friday, November 13th, finalized an 8-week cross- country “ Road To Justice” Bus Tour in Washington D.C. TPS holders from the National TPS Alliance, Workers, and allies gathered at Black Lives Matter Plaza to uplift their demands on the future of TPS under the upcoming Biden administration.
The “On the Road to Justice” Bus tour allowed us to meet with TPS holders across the country to encourage them to join the national movement to uplift the demands for permanent residency, educate our communities on the dangers of COVID-19, and motivate US citizens to ‘Vote Against Hate’ and vote in favor of immigrant families. Our famous Bus “ La Libertad” and our justice riders made over 30 stops in a span of 8 weeks.
TPS Holders of the National Alliance issued the following Statements:
I’ve worked all around Washington DC. I’ve even done work on the monument standing in front of us. Our work has always been crucial to the US economy. We have been essential in the midst of this pandemic for the past 20 years, we have been key contributors to this nation and that is why we all deserve to stay in our adopted home. This is why I decided to join this journey and become one of the drivers of this beautiful bus to tell our stories. President-Elect Joe Biden, the conclusion of this journey is showing just how strong we are in comparison to the previous administration which you were under. I hope you’re listening to this time and actually deliver on your promises..’- Victor Morales, TPS Holder, ‘Road to Justice’ driver
I became a TPS advocate at 12. I should’ve been in school, not marching in the streets in the middle of the rain, but the fate of my family and for 275,000 US citizen children was at stake. That was why we joined the effort to vote against hate so to President-Elect Biden, we want to let you know that we gave you this victory. Black, Brown, and immigrant communities flipped Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania in your favor. We did our part and now, we expect you to deliver on yours. We are demanding a permanent residency –Rebecca Vasquez, daughter of TPS Holders
‘We traveled the country to uplift our demands for the permanent residency we have deserved for the last 20 years. We want to be clear with the new administration. We are no longer asking for another extension of our status. We are demanding that action is taken and a permanent residency is granted for our families’- Lorena Zepeda, TPS Holder, a plaintiff in Ramos V. Nielsen, ‘Road to Justice’ rider
