Atlanta, GA– On Thursday, October 22, TPS families held a press conference and vehicle caravan in Atlanta, Georgia, to welcome the famous bus known as “La Libertad” as it returns on the “Road to Justice,” the nationwide bus tour led by TPS holders in response to the ninth circuit court of appeals decision on Ramos v. Nielsen lawsuits.
Along with the TPS Committee in Georgia, a vehicle caravan was held in a prominent immigrant community in Atlanta, which later concluded with a press conference in front of US Senator David Perdue.
The following statements were made at the press conference:
“We want to bring the following to the attention of Senator Perdue that we exist. The TPS community may be ineligible to vote but we have neighbors, friends, employers, and children who can vote so our voices matter.”- Teofilo Martinez, Honduran TPS holder and coordinator of the Georgia TPS committee (VIDEO OF TEOFILO)
“TPS holders are our neighbors, friends, tax payers, small business owners and employers. This country is great because of then. Every single one of them have contributed so much to our society and now is the time to vote for leaders who recognize their value. David Perdue does not have a strong voting record in support of the immigrant community so we need to find leaders who will! So what are we going to do on November 3? Vote!” –Meghan Vessel, Ally of Georgia TPS Community (VIDEO OF MEGHAN)
“If politicians such as Senator Perdue are unwilling to listen to our demands, we must bring this to the attention of US citizens who will be eligible to vote on November 3rd. If they are not doing their job, Vote them out! Replace them with someone who values the rights of TPS holders and all immigrants.” –Victor Morales, TPS Holder and ‘Road to Justice’ Rider (VIDEO OF VICTOR)
