TPS Families Embark in National Bus Tour that will Visit 54 Cities in 32 States in Response to the 9th district Court Decision
Los Angeles, CA– On Monday September 21st, TPS holders of the National TPS Alliance gathered outside the U.S Court of Appeals in Pasadena, CA to announce the “Road to Justice” bus tour, that will stop in 54 cities in 32 states, in response to the ninth circuit court of appeals decision on Ramos v. Nielsen lawsuits.
The decision allows the Trump administration to move forward with its effort to tear apart more than 400,000 families and potentially deport over 250,000 citizen children. Most TPS beneficiaries have until March 5, 2021 to begin repatriation, with the exception of Salvadorans who have until November 2021.
“For over 2 decades, the country has benefitted from the fruit of our own labour. Now is time for them to recognize our humanity. We believe that there is dignity in all work. We perform our jobs, regardless of how humble they may be- with excellence. We are day laborers, car wash workers, janitors, housekeepers, farmworkers, landscapers, construction workers, cooks, dishwashers, plumbers, mechanics, garment workers, and so much more. We own homes and businesses. We have strong families, have built healthy communities, and are contributing to the economic well-being and cultural wealth of the nation. We have earned the right to remain in our adoptive country as legal permanent status.” said Martha Fernandez, Honduran TPS Holder from Antelope Valley, California
The bus known as “La Libertad,” will once again, be on the road to cross the country from September 21 to November 13, 2020. TPS beneficiaries will visit cities to educate people about TPS beneficiaries and their earned right to residency, Covid-19’s impact in immigrant communities and motivate all voters, especially those in the immigrant community to come out to vote on November 3.
“We believe that this is the most important election in our lifetime. The future of our families, immigrant rights, racial justice, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and the fate of our planet- hangs on the result of this election. We cannot take sides in this election, but we can ask voters to vote against racism, discrimination, hatred and violence, the destruction of families, black lives stolen at the hands of the police and against all the injustices that threaten the immigrant community and communities of color in our country. We will encourage every US citizen that we encounter to vote against the hate and discrimination which threatens to tear our families apart. Along our journey, we will join the national effort to get out the vote in our local communities.” said Stephanie Zecatares, daughter of TPS Holder & Participant on the ‘Road to Justice’ national bus tour.
